Cold weather warning

Now that the cold weather has set in for winter please remember that when water freezes it expands. Frozen water means broken pipes and that is expensive to repair. If you plan on closing your spa don't just drain it, call a professional to winterize it. You will be glad you did.

Water care

This is a relatively new heater tube (~2 years old) which has corroded to the point of needing replacement due to improper water care. This could have been prevented.

Poor water care

Hot tub water needs to be changed every 3 months. This tub wasn't heating because the filters hadn't been cleaned in ... who knows how long. Time to change the water now so I put in a spa flushing agent. It's not supposed to foam up like this. This tub water is nasty and smells.

Proprietary parts

Just one more reason why not to put a heater element into a plastic tube. Any time a manufacturer tries to re-invent the wheel it ends up costing the consumer more. Everyone else puts their heater elements into a stainless steel tube. This didn't need to happen.

Hot tub sizes are not all what they seem

This manufacturer boasts that this hot tub is 36" deep. Look at the 6 tubes on the bottom of the footwell, they are holding the tub 5" up from the ground. That makes this hot tub only 31" deep. When looking at buying a hot tub compare tubs by the amount of water it holds as well as its size.

Antifreeze

This guy just bought a home which came with a hot tub. When he went to open it up he noticed the pink antifreeze in the filter area which was used to winterize it. Would you let your kids sit in a hot tub with antifreeze in it? Of course not. There are healthier and better options for this sort of thing.
